Grand and powerful!

I couldn't help but think of Vikings when I heard this song :P. It has this great air of forboding about it, which then changes into sheer terror and destruction. The piano and violin solos at the end really did make the piece all the more enjoyable for me.
Good luck for the competition!

blackattackbitch responds:

Sorry I didn't respond in so long, been busy at school.

Glad to know I managed to adhere to the overall theme well, and even more relieved to know that you liked it!

Action packed

The beginning reminded me of some of the songs in Dark Knight, but then the bongo rhythm kicked in and surprised me, it's an interesting addition. The chords made by the choir were beatifully harmonic, and contrasted well with the darkness of the lower register without being too light and fluffy.

Hope you do well in the competition, a great submission overall! 10/10 from me.

Arbiter responds:

Clearly I did very badly in the competition, but it was well earned : )

Great style

I like the exotic style you composed this in, but I would have liked to see the melodies at about 0:40 evolve into more of a climax. The quietness at around 2:05 was fantastic, I really enjoyed the melody going on there.

One last thing.... I would have dexribed the influence as more Middle Eastern than Oriental (which I would define as in and around Asia) but that's just me :)

Best of luck in the competition, a fantastically exotic entry!

Hey, thanks for the helpful review!

Well, technically that melody evolves into a climax at the end, although if you mean a more powerful crescendo at 0:40, then I completely agree with you. I suck at climaxes :C.

Thank you!

Heh, well, the thing I focused on was making it have a desert atmosphere more than anything :P. The other influences were more of something which naturally came to me, rather than particularly intentional.

I appreciate the support, and thanks again for the review!

Great.

Sounds like a sort of klezmer/haunted carnival song. The melody played by the clarinets (?) was really well brought out.

Haunting.

This would be perfect for a halloween flash submission. It sounds like you pulled back some of the notes juuust behind the beat, making the song sound slower than it actually is, which adds to the hanting atmosphere. A fantastic entry to the competition, best of luck!

Rampant responds:

I was listening to some old music boxes, and I realized a lot of them have some notes that seem to 'double,' where one is behind the beat slightly, so that's what I attempted to mimic.

Haunting is good. I think? Heh, well thank you very much for the review :)

Best of luck to you in the comp as well. Your majestic 'depths-of-space' entry is quite fantastic as well :) (P.S. I meant, your track does sound like "I'm the king of space." So, my apologies -- I should have been clearer in my review.)

Not nearly enough high freq.

The "chorus" if thats what you'd call it, was actually very boring. You did all the tight snare rolls in the lead up, and then it just drops inot this sort of bridge, an anticlimax. Nothing really happens after the snare rolls. You need to bring out the higher frequencies more, and seperate the lower and mid frequencies, cause at the moment the whole song just kind of sounds smooshed together... theres no clear differentiation between the high supersaw synth and the mid range backer. The melodies and drums are great, though.

DJ-Babokon responds:

I agree with you, but I did this for fun, so I'm not changing it. ;)

Love it.

The whole song is good, but 2:40 onwards is bliss...

Gillenium responds:

Thank you :D

Great

Love the porta on the high synth, just made it all the more "floaty". The guitar fillers weren't really to my liking, but that's just me. The snap of the drums makes it all the more listenable.

Bit crazy up there, eh rig?

Reminds me of "Get your growler out!" by djhoohaa.

Rig responds:

Haven't heard of it.

Hmmm... yeeaahhh... but....

RDGriffin's review said more than he meant it to... "Every epic RPG battle ever"
Yeah... it really does feel like just another fantasy RPG boss battle song. And the fact that you made it a loop instead of a normal song only enhances that feeling. Still, it's a dramatic and well orchestrated piece so I'll give you a 9/10 5/5 for it.
