Alright...

It was way too easy though. I found a section of the room where I could just stand against the wall and missiles launched out of a nearby cannon would simply fly into the wall and explode, meaning all I had to do was shoot the occasional candy-cane and I was breezing through it.

shrimpchris responds:

Yeah, I kind of knew about that, but the point is to have fun. Oh well, thanks for the review!

Needs some work

It's an alright premise, but it needs an objective. With no obvious levels, score limit or punishments for mistakes, there is very little drive for me to continue playing. Also, simply clicking on the windows isn't a huge challenge, something you tried to make up for by making large combos of rooms light up at once. This doesn't really add any challenge, cause I can just ignore half of them and nothing bad will happen.

DevWil responds:

I know what you mean. Outside of the context of LD48, I may have spent more time making the gameplay more involved, but I wasn't sure about how much more time I'd have to work on it. In the time I did spend with it, I didn't have any ideas I liked for adding a lose condition, etc.

For me, the theme (both the Ludum Dare theme and the specific theme of my game) was paramount. I totally acknowledge that this approach can be at the expense of fun.

Thanks for your feedback!

Good!

The overall game was pretty good and polished given the time period, but I wanted it to go for longer! After surviving the first cannibal attack, perhaps you could have included some sort of "free play" mode, or maybe a game type where the cannibals attack you every 10 days or something similar. It was a good game, but I wanted it to be longer!

Jazza responds:

good point, and i agree... but how much can you expect from a game made in 3 days? lol

Whooooooa.....

So.... many... PARTICLES....

This game is epic. Very few other words would describe it properly.

Music: 10/10. Just my style...
Gameplay: 10/10. Old concept, infused with some interesting new twists and game elements.
Effects: Holy Shit/10. Insanely crazy eye-candy going on here, it's like putting your mind into a microwave oven...

All I can think of to improve this would be a fullscreen downloadable version... hell I would PAY to play this fullscreen...

ZEGMAN responds:

Awesome! Thanks a lot!

Unresponsive controls.

I was excited to play this, having enjoyed the original a lot. But even after the first few levels, the unresponsivness on the controls was shocking. Half the time pressing a certain button more than once in quick succession did nothing, such as trying to jump up a staricase and having the little guy just stand there doing nothing until about 5 key presses. This is the exact opposite of what you want in a game with a time limit, and I found myself losing by a few seconds because the character wasn't jumping as fast as I was pushing spacebar. 10/10, but -4 stars because of the dodgy controls.

The-EXP responds:

What setting did you have the CPU stuff on in the menu? PM me.

No point.

There's nothing to do, no point, no objective. That and you've uploaded it to completely wrong target audience. Try adding in some more stuff, cause, frankly, a My Little Pony sandbox game will probably not be too popular.

urimas responds:

sorry you dont see the point in a sprite test all i wanted was to get feedback on what could be improved. :)

Great start, but needed much improvement.

This was pretty fun to play for a while, but there are a few things that you should improve upon...
1) Increase the turning speed and overall movement speed of the ship. Seriously, It was like I was trying to fly it through mud. Having a ship that's easy to manouevre would easily make this game better tenfold.
2) Make the screen bigger! I want to see every tiny bit of pixelated goodness in this virtual space, not have to squint and lean towards the screen!
3) Treat the players to some eye candy. Make the planets and stars and everything else more appealing to look at. Perhaps enlist the help of some of our talented artists from the art portal, I'm sure they'd be glad to help out.

Overall this game has a good premise, but it needs a lot of polishing to make it an experience.

unbelivable responds:

Thanks, if i make a sequel i will definitely take these suggestions into consideration.

Whoa....

.........
Sorry... I spaced out there for a second... Those colours are enough to completely phaze me out... If only fullscreen mode was higher resolution, it would be absolutely incredible. If you could release a downloadable EXE version of this, I would play it for hours. This gets my 5...

Vibe13 responds:

high-res ful-screen mode would have been nice. I only just learned how to do full-screen stuff for this game so I did it in the simplest way possible.

Some Chords...

Pretty cool. But I'm pretty sure he does a bit more than move a lever and change the colour of the lights :P
Would have been slightly better if you synced his head bob to the beat of the music.

Nonsequitor responds:

I tried my best to synchronize and I thought I had the frame rate just right but when I uploaded it it went just a little bit faster. It is rather hard to synchronize to BGM when you make it a loopable flash. but thanks for your comment.

Not a bad game, however...

It made very little sense. Perhaps for the next game at least include a recap of what happened in your previous games. Also, the music started overlapping when I found the guy smoking the cigarette, and that got really annoying.

stigolafxcker responds:

I should really get that fixed. I'm working on it, and a little more content to the game.
